We have developed two applications specifically for the Arboricultural industry, namely ArbTag and TreeTag. ArbTag is specifically for aiding in keeping up to date records of equipment for compliance with current health and safety legislation. TreeTag maintains a database of tree identifications and the work done/required on those trees. ArbTag The main screen of the ArbTag application is shown below . ArbTag can be used in conjunction with an RFID or bar code reader to rapidly and accurately identify equipment having an RFID tag or bar code attached. As each item is identified it is highlighted in the current list of items and the current history of that item shown in the lower half of the screen. Various shapes and sizes of tag are available to suit most equipment, the most popular tag being a 20mm laminated disc that can be attached to most items including ropes, harnesses and chainsaws. ArbTag Key Points
TreeTag The TreeTag application is similar to our ArbTag product, but is specifically for making correct tree identifications and to record the work done/required on those trees. A 5 level degree of urgency for work to be undertaken can be recorded against any tree, thereby allowing a listing of the work priorities required. TreeTag is designed to be used in conjunction with RFID tagging, whereby trees are identified by an electronic tag that can be read by a suitable scanning device. Nail tags are available for this specific use, giving each tree a unique and automatically readable identification. Nail tags require a pre-drilled hole of a few mm. diameter in order to insert them. Once in place the tags are not easily physically seen and are difficult to remove, thus reducing the chance of malicious removal which so often occurs with traditional metal tags. A variety of electronic tag readers are available from less than 50 pounds. We can supply software for Pocket PC's and a tag reader to go with them to enable tree identification to be performed in the field without the need to carry a laptop. Tag readers are also available that can give a display of the tag identification and store up to several hundred identifications for downloading later to a PC. Below are shown a small selection of the many tag readers available and some nail tags.
